UN rebukes President Duterte for threats

The United Nations human rights office on Tuesday condemned attacks and threats made against its investigators by President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Last week Mr. Duterte threatened to slap [UN special rapporteur Agnes] Callamard if she investigates him for alleged extrajudicial killings,” UN human rights spokesman Rupert Colville said.

Duterte made the threat on November 9, saying he would slap Callamard if she probes the administration’s war on drugs.

The UN office also condemned attacks and threats against its investigators made by Burundian officials.
